Apparel can be very important when you learn to dance. Firstly you could consider your ballet shoes. It is important that these fit you well and are not too tight so they do not constrict your feet. Your body clothing will need to show your body lines, making leotards a popular choice with ballet dancers.

Once you have gotten yourself prepared you could begin your study of ballet. Your class could begin with some basic stretching in each of the five ballet positions. Additionally, you may be doing some basic barre work. Barre work is where you stand next to the ballet barre working your way through demi-plies, tendus, and battements. Traditionally, you will work through these in each of the five ballet positions.

These steps, exercises and positions will make up different combinations. You will put them together and link each step. Finally you might practice these combinations with music. Fun and excitement then could start to build within you as you express yourself in dance.

Despite the challenge, ballet can be a wonderful way to perfect the art of dance. So have fun and remember to prepare yourself to take those baby steps on the road to perfection. - 29874

Things In Opera Glasses To Check Out

By Jeff Bridges

Sometimes it can be hard to see things in a performing arts venue. If you have a tough time seeing things then opera glasses can always be used. These glasses are ones that can help you to see things at one of these events. Not all pairs of opera glasses are the same though. There are many parts of these glasses to watch for.

First you should check out the general physical construction of your glasses. This construction should be one that is very luxurious in appearance. It is something that will need to fit in with your surroundings at a performing arts venue. A wooden panel is a necessity for the casing for your glasses. Brass that is noticeable and cannot scratch with ease should be used as well.

Magnification is something that is important to see in your opera glasses. In most cases you can magnify items to three times their size. Some of the most powerful glasses work at five times magnification levels. Regardless of where you are sitting you can use these glasses for your benefit. This includes when you are very far out of the stage.

Seeing many things through the lenses will be important too. The diameter of the lenses can vary according to your glasses. Most glasses work with twenty-five millimeter lenses. This is a general size used for getting you to focus on individual items or even multiple things. With this you can easily find things through your glasses.

Being able to get your glasses stored properly is also useful. In many cases you can get your glasses folded up with ease. This is done by folding them at the center of the glasses. Even if you cannot use this on your glasses you can always use a good storage case. A strong case or a containment pouch can always be used.

Finally you should look into the way that you are going to be holding onto your glasses. In most cases your glasses can be held by their sides like with binoculars. In other cases you can hold them with a small handle that is attached to the glasses. Glasses of this type are commonly known as Lorgnette glasses. These options are helpful to see when you are looking for glasses.

You should check out opera glasses for being able to see things at a performing arts event. It is easy to see things but you should watch for some factors. You will need to see how you can hold onto these glasses. The vision diameter and the magnification level that is used are important to see too. - 29874

Why are opera glasses made?

By Jeff Bridges

Sometimes the cost of Opera glasses can be costly depending on the kind that you get and what it is made out of. Opera glasses can also cost a lot depending on how expensive the materials are that are used for making them. Some opera glasses can cost only thirty dollars, where as others may cost a couple hundred dollars.

Depending on where you are sitting in the opera (or other performance) you may not need opera glasses. This also depends on how great your eye sight is and whether or not you want to rent or buy them. I personally thing that you should not buy any unless you are going to use them often because then they will just be sitting around collecting dust.

The reason for the different prices is because of the quality of the construction and the optics. When it comes to some models fashion is something that most people consider because they can get opera glasses that look at elegant as they do. When it comes to the elegant glasses then the price will rise quite a bit more than thirty dollars.

The reason that the opera glasses cost different is because of how well they are put together and the optics that are used for them. Obviously, if the materials are more expensive them the cost is going to go up, just like it would on anything else that you might buy in a regular store. You can find opera glasses at stores in Hollywood but you can mostly find them on-line if you do not live in Hollywood or close to Hollywood.

Opera Glasses are fun to use because you can see the performance going on from a long distance away. Opera glasses slightly resemble binoculars except that they are smaller and are much clearer at seeing things on the insider as opposed to binoculars which are better for seeing things outside.

There are a lot of places that you can find opera glasses. Stores in Hollywood California usually sell them due to the overwhelming desire of people to go to operas. However, if you do not live near Hollywood California and you live somewhere else that may also have Operas, maybe you can not find a store that sells opera glasses and in this case you can always look on-line.

It is a personal choice of many people to use Opera Glasses but it is not mandatory to own or rent them if you go to an opera. You should always rent or borrow glasses before you buy because then you can see if they are right for you before you spend the money on them. - 29874

Use Opera Glasses To View The Performance

By Jeff Bridges

Opera glasses are often called theater binoculars. These optical instruments are compact and low in power, but useful in magnification of the performers. Originally the glasses were used exclusively at operas. Due to the lower light conditions the magnification power of opera glasses is always kept under 5x power and most are at a 3x power.

Opera glasses compare in some ways to binoculars. However, opera glasses are designed for indoor use. They are found useful at indoor theaters and in many other performances where seats may be located some distance from the stage, as in balconies or the back of the theater. The glasses give the patron the ability to see the stage from the far away locations.

However, opera glasses are not true binoculars from an optical point of view. Binoculars are actually a pair of telescopes. The overall length of the telescopes is made possible by an optical process called folding which uses mirrors to shorten the length. Opera glasses, use a convex lens as the objective lens and a concave lens for the eyepiece. Although the image is not as high a quality as with binoculars, it is produced upright using only two lenses instead of the multiple lenses necessary with the binoculars.

Opera glasses are designed to be small and unobtrusive. They should be small enough that they do not distract other theater goers. Some of the models fold so that they may be easily slipped into the pocket or the purse.

Use of opera glasses can take some getting used to. One suggestion is to try an inexpensive rental of opera glasses. They are often available at the larger operas. If you rent before you buy, you will know if opera glasses help you to enjoy the show.

During the nineteenth century, many ladies used spectacles having a long handle called a lorgnette. Most of these glasses were more ornamental than they were useful. The lorgnette was preferred at this time to the more traditional spectacle. Today, many of the more expensive opera glasses use the design of the lorgnette of the nineteenth century.

The use of opera glasses is truly a personal choice. They may be helpful in following the story line for some patrons however others find them to be annoying and unnecessary to follow the story line. The other factor may be the seat that you choose. While better seating may be more expensive, it often offers a much better view of the show without requiring the use of opera glasses. - 29874

Opera Glasses, A Great Way To Observe All The Action On Stage From Far Away

By Jeff Bridges

Opera Glasses are similar to binoculars but they are made for being able to see performances on stage. In old opera houses seats placed in balconies that were subsequently cheaper were very far away from the stage. In some they were so far away on the figures could be seen from that distance but seeing facial features, and thus part of the acting, was impossible to make out. Opera glasses would enable those people in the peanut gallery to see on stage much better to the point of seeing the facial expressions of the actors or singers. They have been popular since the 50's.

Opera glasses are not the same as binoculars because they are much smaller and are usually nicely stylish. There are some brands that look like a flat case that fit into a woman's evening bag or in a jacket pocket that pop up like an accordion. There are also those that fold in on themselves and can be carried unnoticed. Some are held up with a single rod called a lorgnette enabling a person to hold with only one hand instead of using both hands. The rod also folds up to hide it well when not in use.

You can purchase opera glasses easily these days. You can get an inexpensive model for about $50 to $100 US dollars but there are those with better optics are much more expensive. Expensive models will be more stylish as well. Antique opera glasses are often much more expensive merely because they are antique and most often much more ornate. Try them out to make sure they give you the magnification you need and are still in operating order.

Some theaters give you the opportunity to rent opera glasses for a small fee. If you are an opera or theater enthusiast that attends regularly you may want to have a pair of your own, but if you one go once in awhile renting them is a good option. If you want to buy your own it is a good idea to try out the rented ones to see what you prefer. You may like the ones you hold one handed with the rod or you might like the ones you use like binoculars. You might find out you don't even want to use them.

Opera glasses differ from binoculars in their optical system. Binoculars have a complicated system while opera glasses are simple based on the Galilean optical system invented by Galileo. The image seen is not nearly as sharp as with binoculars but you will still be able to see everything up on stage.

Most opera glasses today are made in China. Most of them have a magnification to 3 X which is adequate for a large auditorium or concert hall. Exceptions to the rule go to 5 X but they are quite expensive. Some will have a center focus and some don't have one at all. Usually the non focus glasses have a small red LED light that appears between the eye barrels. This will enable you to read the program in dim light without disturbing your neighbor. If you have good vision these will be the ones for you however, if you have a problem with vision and wish to use the opera glasses without your corrective lenses it is better to go with the ones that can be focused. Since there is a central focusing mechanism there is no room for the light so focused opera glasses will not have one.

Cases usually come with new opera glasses and the vintage type will also have them. Soft cases are available as well as the hard type with a velvet lining. Antique glasses can be made of ivory or cloisonne enamel or they may have jewels attached or be decorated with gold or silver. These opera glasses were made to be elegant although you were not supposed to notice them. Either type make a great gift for those who frequent the opera, ballet or theater. - 29874

Learning The Basic Ballet Moves

By Sarah Wilkiamson

If you are one of those who believe that ballet has something magical about it while watching the ballet dancers move around the stage with grace, beauty and romance then you should know that it is not as far away as it first seemed.

To begin your journey into the world of ballet you will need to learn first the basic moves all ballet dancers have mastered. The recommended way to begin this is by using a barre bar, which comes in different styles. If this is not possible for any reason then a high backed chair can work just as well.

Barre bars main purpose is to assist the dancer as a tool to balance themselves while going through routine positions.

The eleve is a simple move and also the first one you should work on. This move is just when a ballet dancer raises their body up on the balls of the feet, and it will also do a lot to greatly strengthen important body parts like the feet, ankles and calves. You will need to work on doing an eleve with all five basic ballet positions and once you are capable of that you can start working on a releve in those positions too. The releve is different, because it is when a dancer raises themselves onto the ball of a foot while in a deep plie position.

There are two moves that you must master and they are the plie and a grand plie. A plie is simply the bending of the knee found in many ballet positions and depending on how deep the knee bend, a grand plie.

Another basic move in ballet you need to know and which can be mastered using a barre is the tendu. When working on this move you just have to stand firmly on one leg and stretch out the other one. It is important to keep in mind that when working on a tendu that the stretched out foot is in a strong point at the end of the move and before you bring it back to the starting position. This move is great for increasing flexibility overall and strengthening turnout.

Once you have become confident in your tendu you can move onto a rond de jambre. This is similar to the tendu, but it actually involves your free leg making a semi circle on the floor. This can be done in all five of the ballet positions, and it is one of the best exercises to improve your turnout. The circular movement of this step always moves from front to back, but after you have acclimated yourself with the rond de jambe you can progress to the jambe en dedans which takes the circle in the opposite direction.

Learning these basic ballet steps gives you the foundation to build on as a dancer and although ballet is complicated it has its roots in the basics. - 29874

Know More About Dance, As A Performance Art Form

By Peggy Ryersen

Dance is both a sport and art. It basically refers to any kind of body movements which are rhythmic and graceful and performed along with music. Dancing allows people to express their emotions or social interactions when in a spiritual or social situation. The ideas can be expressed by body movements and are a way of communicating without having to be verbal. This form of communication is not just limited to humans and is often found in nature. One such example would be bees. Other types of partner dancing include figure skating and synchronized swimming.

Through the ages dance has been an expression using movements and a way of expressing emotions of various sorts. It can be found as a ceremonial and competitive art form, social, artistic, moral and many cultural settings. Dance's movement can also be the way of expressing a story such as a hunt or a silent non-verbal way to express the emotions of a courtship ritual.

Different types of dance forms can take the form of classical dance like the tango, ballroom dancing, ballet, and even the waltz. There are plenty of competitions in which these classical dances are held on a performance level. If you are interested in dancing as a career, you can go in for professional dancing with dance companies, become a choreographer for dance performances and even training fledgling dancers to dance in traditional, ethnic, and ceremonial dance forms. You can teach your students to perform as a solo dance performer, a partner Dance performer or take part in a properly choreographed group dance.

Dance and music are definitely going to go together, because you cannot imagine dancing the blue Danube without the music playing in the background. That is the reason why both classical music as well as classical dance forms, evolved as musicians began to set their symphonies and Rhapsodies in a manner to which anybody who was hearing them could get up , glide, sway, and dip as his whim took him. After that, once the music had been set, the movements of the dance were decided upon, 12, sway, turn around, move the other way, in a manner which gave rise to many more dance forms.

There is a term you are probably familiar with, which is "dancing to your own drum". In this case, in rhythm and dance, this is simply dancing with no music. A form of this type of dance is tap dancing. It is in itself an amazing way of making music with a rhythmic tapping off of the feet.

Dancing is meant to be both relaxing and invigorating. However, not only is dancing a great workout, but it is also a way of becoming more flexible. It is even used for therapy, because it can be so soothing and it improves muscle coordination.

So whatever the reason may be, if the music is provocative enough to make you want to get up and dance, go for it! - 29874
